Raw & Virgin Hair Care Tips: Keeping Your Bundles Beautiful
Share
Your raw and virgin hair bundles are high-quality and deserve mindful care to maintain their natural luster and longevity. These simple but effective tips will help keep your bundles soft, tangle-free, and full of life—for months or even years.
1. Wash Gently, Not Frequently
-
When to wash: Wash your bundles every 1–2 weeks or as needed, depending on product buildup or styling.
-
How to wash: Use lukewarm water and a sulfate-free, moisturizing shampoo. Gently cleanse the hair in a downward motion—no scrubbing or circular motions to avoid tangling.
-
Rinse well to remove all product.
2. Condition with Care
-
Always follow up with a rich, silicone-free conditioner or deep conditioner.
-
Apply from mid-shaft to ends, using a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to detangle gently while the conditioner is in.
-
Rinse thoroughly, and if needed, do a deep conditioning treatment every few weeks.
3. Air Dry Whenever Possible
-
Pat the hair gently with a microfiber towel—never rub.
-
Allow the bundles to air dry on a hanger or mannequin head to help preserve the natural texture.
-
Avoid excessive blow drying, which can dry out and damage raw hair over time.
4. Use Minimal Heat
-
Raw hair can handle heat styling, but always use a heat protectant first.
-
Keep heat tools at moderate temperatures and avoid daily use.
-
When possible, opt for heatless styling methods like braids, flexi rods, or satin rollers.
5. Detangle Gently and Regularly
-
Use a wide-tooth comb or a soft-bristle brush to detangle—starting from the ends and working your way up.
-
Detangle before washing and after the hair is dry.
-
Be especially gentle with curly or wavy textures to avoid breakage or shedding.
6. Avoid Heavy Products
-
Lightweight leave-in conditioners, natural oils (like argan or jojoba), and serums are best.
-
Avoid greasy, alcohol-based, or heavy styling products that can cause buildup and dullness.
7. Night Care Matters
-
Before bed, braid or twist the hair loosely and wrap it in a silk or satin scarf or use a satin bonnet.
-
This helps reduce friction, frizz, and tangling while you sleep.
8. Proper Storage
-
When not in use, store your bundles in a silk bag, original packaging, or on a hanger.
-
Keep them away from direct sunlight, moisture, and dust.
